  • Reporting modules
    - Landed Costing
    - Cargo Status Reports
    - Performance Reporting
  • Complex automated alerting systems
    - "Send my clients this information every Friday"
  • Real-time Dashboards
    - Exception Management

API to be released March 2007 to allow integration for Forwarders and Agents

Pangaea Software Pty Ltd is due to release its first API (Application Programming Interface) in March 2007.  The API will allow forwarders and software companies to develop software that connects directly to Pangaea and retrieves and even updates status information regarding a shipment. No more double handling!

So how will the API help your business?
Imagine if your agent could update their internal system with the latest information about an order and that information could automatically do the following:

  • Update the status of that shipment in Pangaea
  • Email your client the latest status
  • Update their cargo status report
  • Update your operations system with the latest information for that shipment

....and your staff haven't touched a key on their keyboard.

Pangaea's API allows Pangaea to be the middleware that connects forwarders systems cheaply and quickly.
The API also allows external software companies write software modules that can connect to Pangaea and on sell them to new and existing Pangaea clients.

"This is probably the most exciting release since Pangaea's inception.  The ability for forwarders and their offices or agents to connect and really eradicate double entry of data is what forwarders from around the world having been asking for.  It also allows external software companies to connect to Pangaea.  Our clients no longer have to wait for us to build a new feature in Pangaea, they have the ability to do this themselves"  says Maryann Farrugia – Managing Director of Pangaea

We are currently looking for software companies who are interested in partnering with us to connect Pangaea to their operations system.  If you think your operations company might be interested, please have them contact us.

If you or your software company would like more information on our API, please email apisupport@pangaeaworld.com

Pangaea partners with Freightnet

Two of the largest freight forwarding communities Pangaea and Freightnet join forces.

Freightnet is the ultimate freight resource for forwarders, shipping lines, sea port authorities, airlines, airport authorities, household removals, warehousing, packers and fulfillment, cargo and marine insurance, recruitment and freight associations.

Freightnet now has over 18,000 members, with over 700,000 unique visitors per year making Freightnet one of the most powerful networks in the freight industry.

Freightnet has selected Pangaea as their software partner to offer their members a way to connect and communicate on one common platform.

Pangaea's CEO Maryann Farrugia says
"We are excited to be working with our new partners in Freightnet. Freightnet and Pangaea ultimately have the same goal in connecting forwarders together. By our companies providing this level of connectivity for freight companies globally, there is no reason why small to medium forwarders cannot also join forces to take on the likes of the DHL Danzas', Expeditors, Schnekers, Panalpinas and Kuehne and Nagels of the world and the quicker forwarders see this opportunity, the faster they will grow and remain profitable".

Freightnet's Phil Morrison adds,
"Since 1995 Freightnet has evolved into a tried and trusted brand. It has always been our intention to bring quality products and services to our members and the users of our website. Pangaea's communication system brings all parties into the supply chain making it a revolutionary tool using the latest technology and security giving users a competitive edge. Freightnet only partners with quality companies with global resources and Pangaea Software certainly fits that bill".

New Release - Pangaea Version 2.8 due September 2006

Pangaea V2.8 development is centered on making Pangaea easier for you, your clients and agents.

The primary aim of Pangaea Version 2.8 is to introduce the concept of User Order Management to Pangaea. The User Order Management functionality will build on the foundation provided by the Client Forwarder Contacts Management first introduced in Version 1.4 of Pangaea.

The purpose of User Order Management is to provide each Pangaea User with the ability to filter the Orders they are permitted to see down to a more manageable load by specifying Importer, Exporter and trade lane criteria. These settings will determine the Orders that will appear on the User's View Orders page and the Orders that the User will receive alerts for.

All Users can choose to manage all Orders, or filter those Orders by Client or Location. Paying Freight Forwarder users will have two lots of settings; one where they are the Freight Forwarder on the Order and one where they are the Agent. Client Users that handle both Imports and Exports will also have two lots of settings; one where they are the Importer on the Order and one where they are the Exporter.

Current Pangaea Users will have their current Client Forwarder Contacts settings migrated to the new User Order Management functionality where they will manage their Orders by Client. All new Users will manage all their Orders by default until their User Order Management Settings have been set.

There will a whole training session on this new feature at the Pangaea User Conference to explain how to use the new functionality.
